~ Pilates ~
Developed by Joseph H. Pilates to strengthen and tone muscles, and properly align the body, the Pilates method is an exercise form based on the body being in its most natural state – the state of motion.
It is an art form to be practiced and perfected daily, as well as a moving meditation, requiring concentration and precision. This mind-body connection is what separates Pilates from other exercise regimes and provides results that transform individuals physically, mentally and emotionally.
While there is an emphasis on strengthening “the core” and creating long, lean muscles, Pilates exercises are designed to redirect HOW we move, and from which muscles we move. It is often a subtle shift in awareness, one that requires focus and dedication to master. But it is this awareness that transfers from the studio to all movement within our daily lives, and transforms and inspires students of all ages and fitness levels.
